Snow Flurries!

 Yes!
Sweet Ivy is still alive and kickin'!
LOL!
It's been a while since I've posted anything on the blog, but I wanted to share these lovely snowflakes with you.
These are done in one of my signature flavors, a butter vanilla almond cookie.
I offer both royal icing and/or glaze on my flooded cookies.
These are done in a glaze.
Many people like the glaze because although it hardens enough to stack or bag the cookies, it isn't "crunchy" or "hard" like royal icing.  It has more of a "chew" to it.
When doing detail work, I always use royal icing.  Even if I flood with glaze, I detail in royal because I can get sharper lines/details.
These snowflakes were done for gift platters for Christmas.
I gave these to our pastor's family and my women's ministries director and her family.
Sweet Ivy is still taking a limited amount of orders!

Christmas 2014

 December has been a blur!
It truly has!
The whole Christmas season kind of just...sneaked up on me!
I don't feel like I made a lot of decorated cookies this year...
Though I actually did...2 dozen for each client (six)...a dozen for our family get-together...plus a dozen for a giveaway.
So that was a grand total of 14 dozen this month.
I know, not a lot for some of you busy bee bakers out there...but it was enough for me during the holidays, ha!  I did something new (to me) this year.  I attempted this wreath that I found on Pinterest and I apologize...I can't give the original poster credit as I couldn't find the link!  So to whoever shared the original post on Pinterest...thank-you for your inspiration!
Then I attempted SugarBelle's poinsettia platter.  I was pretty happy with the results for a first attempt!  Everyone who received one seemed to like it.
Then I did a couple wintery themed platters.
Mittens, snowflakes, and some holiday greetings.

This green (and red/white) themed set, I took to our family celebration.  They were kind of a last minute set.  I didn't really have a plan...I kind of just winged it and had fun!
Generally, it's my custom cookies that really "take it out of me".
But this year, I did SO MUCH "other" holiday baking...that it was those that really zapped my energy!  But you can't skip the family favorites at Christmas time!  I'll be doing a post on those later.  I hope each and every one of you have a very Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year!
Here's to a bright and successful 2015!

Snowflakes!

 I love snowflakes!
I love creating snowflakes!
I think the reason I enjoy making them so much...
...is because there is no wrong way to make them!
 Each one is unique!
And it's so much fun coming up with a different design for each one!
I like to challenge myself and see if I can come up with a different design for EVERY SINGLE snowflake that I make!  Ha!
 I love doing white-on-white too!
I've done red and green snowflakes...
Blue snowflakes...
But I think the white-on-white is the most elegant!
I used pearl dragees on them too.
I wanted the silver ones, but they are super hard to find.
These were made to go on gift platters for my clients.
I put these snowflakes and some Christmas trees on the platters.
I'll share the Christmas trees in the next post.
Do you have snow where you live right now?
It has been snowing non-stop for days now here in the Mitten State (Michigan).
I am enjoying every minute of it...especially since I work from home and don't have to drive in it.  Wishing you a wondrous winter!
